The body is only a container that takes on different roles/purposes. It is the cloth to the soul, a storage device for data, a machine that facilitates materialistic existence of living beings. After a living entity transitions from a physical form to a non-physical form, the entity continues to live in a state known as afterlife. The consciousness continues to exist with its pre-existing thoughts/feelings of love, bonding, happiness, sadness, hate and other emotions that would have been felt and experienced by the living being when in physical form.
